People who know me (and if you read enough of my posts, you’ll know this too) know the writer I admire the most is J. Michael Straczynski. He’s a brilliant writer and so fantastically creative. One of the things I don’t like about Hollywierd is how they like to pigeon-hole writers into one genre or another. Mr. Straczynski is working proof that a good writer can write anything. He is one of the most diverse writers working today. So diverse, I bet you’ve seen a lot of his work without realizing these films/tv shows were written by the same person — He-man, Captain Power, The Real Ghostbusters, Murder She Wrote, Crusade, Jeremiah, Changeling (Angelina Jolie), Ninja Assassin (which he completed in just 53 hours) , Thor (Story), Underworld: Awakening… and he created one of the best sci-fi tv shows – Babylon 5. As well as this impressive resume, Mr. Straczynski has written numerous comic books/graphic novels, too many to list here, but some of the titles include: Spider-man, Silver Surfer, Thor, Wonder Woman and Superman.
So – the reason for the intro and preamble is… J. Michael Straczynski recently presented a screenwriters workshop at WonderCon. It’s funny, informative and entertaining. Mr. Straczynski answers the questions all screenwriters seem to ask in his – tell it like it is – manner. Check it out below!
