I’m loving the way studios are using new media to market their films. The most recent and creative examples are from Prometheus, these two examples promote the film by trying to ground the film in reality using viral videos – one is an ad for robotics and how they’ve advanced – the second uses the wildly popular “Ted Talks” video.
Pretty cool stuff. As screenwriters, we all imagine what the movie poster will look like to our film – we try to visualize the trailer using big set pieces we’ve written. With this new media marketing – are we now going to start imagining the viral campaigns to market our films? What do you think?
